4:00 p.m.- Early Bird Tourney - Meet and Greet near the main Ramada

Join all your friends with dangerous toys, you know, the ones you could poke somebody’s eye out with. Have a fun time stabbing and talking, bring your silly stuff to use, and even your brand new toy you got for Christmas. There will be a potluck afterwards, so please bring something to share. The Barony of Starkhafn will provide hot dogs and buns for those who are daring enough to risk tubular mystery meat.


9:00 a.m. : Armor inspection meet at Rapier Pop up

Participants register for first round of fighting. Scenarios will be announced at that time.

10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. : Treasure Chest Tourney

A rare Mayan treasure from the New World is within the chest. A team is guarding the chest inside a room with several entries, so they must be on guard against intruders. Intruders must choose a way into the treasure room. If they are successful in capturing the treasure, they must choose a different exit point from the way they entered.

Other teams may enter the treasure room to fight for the chest whenever they wish; which means there could be several teams inside the treasure room at the same time. Other teams may wait outside to intercept an escaping team carrying the chest. If the mayhem is not sufficient, the scenario can be played out several times until one team has captured and held the chest twice. At the end of the scenario, the victors can open the chest and take the treasure - beads of Mayan treasure, each bead marked twice with the sacred letter M for the Mayan rulers.

11:00 a.m. - Noon : Off-Hand Tourney

All participants must fight with their off hand, bringing only a non-offensive device for their other hand. Non-offensive can include anything from silly parrying devices to dead serious bucklers. The tourney will be double elimination, but a well-constructed, off-hand insult could earn the insulter a second chance if the marshals hearing the remark think it worthy enough. The winner will receive an off-hand prize.

Noon - 2:00 p.m. : Lunch Break Open field is available for pick-up fights. Please remember to have a marshal handy.

2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. : Tavern Brawl and possible Resurrection Battle

Typical that there would be a tavern brawl in Starkhafn, but this one will be a little different. All weapons must be checked at the door. As the insults fly, so do the combatants. Combatant teams will consist of at least three drinking buddies. Teams may be balanced to make them even. Everyone is to remain seated while they call out insults to the other teams until someone feels bold enough to make a dash for their weapons, at which time everybody can go, but please, no shoving or tripping.

Each person has to retrieve their arms, which they have placed on the ground along the front wall line drawn on the ground. No combatant can be struck until he or she picks up weapons, then everybody is fair game. The scenario will play out twice, unless participants want to continue the play.

Depending on how quickly this scenario finished, there may be a res battle until 4:00 p.m.

4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. : Introduction to Cut & Thrust – Master Antoine de Bueil

An introduction to the style of combat. Covers armor, weapons, and beginner swordplay. Bring your mask and a rapier - minimum age 18.


9:00 a.m. : Armor inspection meet at Rapier Pop up

Sign-up for Duel of Honor

Each participant who chooses to fight a duel of honor will have two tokens, each representing a life. Each participant must have a second to attend them in the duel. The duel is to first blood, although a kill may happen, it is not required. The first part of the duel will be rubber band guns at fifteen paces. The seconds will inspect and load the guns. If the rubber band does not hit, the duelists will shoot again, this time at ten paces. If there is still no wounding, the fighters will complete the duel with rapiers, again provided by their seconds. Combatants and seconds must wear masks during the Rubber Band Gun portion of the duel. Seconds will act as marshals after performing their other duties, but may take the field themselves after the initial duel is finished. Original combatants will then assume the roles of seconds.

The dueling ground is TBA at the time of the first duel. At the end of the duel, the loser will give a token to the winner. When a fighter loses two tokens, they are no longer available for dueling. A duel of honor can take place at any time that fighters and their seconds wish. The finalist will be announced at court with a prize presented by Their Excellencies.

9:00 a.m. - Noon : Rapier Marshal Classes – Don Lot Ramirez

   9:00 a.m. general marshal class (required to become a marshal)

   10:00 a.m. class for how to be a territorial marshal

   11:00 a.m. class for Provosts (required for provosts)

10:00 a.m. - Noon : All about Spears – THL Meala Caimbeul

There will be a short discussion and overview of using spears in Caid Melee, then break up into small group and controlled melee scenarios. This will help develop CAID melee tactics for suture wars.

1:00 p.m.: One-hour Resurrection Battle. White Scarf Meeting at Grand Pavilion

During the resurrection battle, there will be a meeting of White Scarfs for a discussion of the fourth peerage.

2:00 p.m. : General Meeting to discuss Fourth Peerage. This will be a continuation of the White Scarf meeting open to anyone interested in the new peerage.

3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. : Contrary Secondaries - Don Alexander Kallidokos

Fighting with secondaries that don't match. An examination of strengths and weaknesses when fighting against someone with different off-hand equipment. Involves free-play combat. Bring your masks

3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. : Melee Practice at open field

Combatant sides will be equal for this practice. Spears and RBGs will be permitted, with an equal number of each on either side.


9:00 a.m. : Armor inspection-meet at Rapier Pop up

10:00 a.m. - Noon : Castle Battle

There is a castle with two bridges approaching an open space in front of the main gate. Defenders can meet the enemy in front of the gates to drive them off before they can place explosives to blow open the gates. Defenders inside the castle can use rubber band guns to blow up the bombs before they are place next to the gate. Each side will have a limited number of RBGs, the number to be determined at the time of the battle. The battle is over when the attackers have successfully blown open the gates and fought their way inside the castle.

If a rubber band hits a bomb, the marshal will call a hold and all fighters have to remain stationary. The marshals will use a twenty- foot string to find a circle around the bomb. Any fighter, attacker or defender, inside the circle is dead. After the dead are cleared from the site, the fighting may continue.

This scenario will repeat with defenders taking the place of the attackers and continue until our time at the castle is over.

11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. : Lunch break

1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. : Duke Leif Iverson Memorial Tournament

Sir Ozmund Rus is sponsoring this tournament for both heavies and rapier. The tournament is in honor of Sir Ozmund’s late uncle. Both forms will fight at the same time. For rapier, the competition will consist of two person teams, one White Scarf and one non-scarf. The non-scarf will fight with a single rapier, while the White Scarf will use only a dagger and buckler. This will be a double elimination tournament. This is something new for T & C, and it sounds like fun, so let’s all get our teams together.
